Comments:

The method used for the product VERDUR recommends replacing the excavation area with soil.  This soil contains fungi and bacteria.  The wounds should be first protected from infection.

These injection wounds are not pre-treated, so the soil will allow the invasion of bacteria and fungi into the wounds [exposed xylem tissue].  Without Protection, this procedure will cause DECAY organisms to invade the tree trunk.

WE, at Medi-Ject, recommend the use of water based latex caulking to seal the wounds,

TO PREVENT DECAY ORGANISMS FROM INFECTING THE TREE.

DO NOT USE ANY CAULKING COMPOUNDS CONTAINING SILICONE.  WHEN SILICONE CURES, IT RELEASES AMMONIA GAS.  AMMONIA GAS KILLS THE CAMBIUM LAYER.  THE LIVING TISSUE OF THE TREE.
